Oftentimes when going on a cruise we are tempted to brings clothes for every possible scenario. Even though as boy scouts we were always taught to be prepared when going on vacation it isn’t always necessary. There are certain things that fit into the must have category but the majority of what gets packed in the second and third suitcases are needless filler. In an effort to jumpstart the less is more movement I am going to make every effort to pack as little as possible, in hopes that my girlfriend will follow my lead.
Normally I would set off for a cruise with a checked bag which is usually overweight although I’ve never been charged, a carry-on and another bag that goes under my seat. This time I am taking things a bit differently. I plan on fitting everything but the clothing I’ll have for the first night into my checked luggage and will put the rest into my small carry-on bag. I know its nothing ground breaking but its a definite improvement. So here is the short list of what I plan on bringing along with me.
- Three Bathing Suits
- Assorted T-shirts
- Formal Attire
- 2 Pair of Shoes and 1 Pair of Flip Flops
- Undergarments and Socks
- 1 Beach Towel
- A Good Book
- Camera
- Ipod
- Limited Toiletries
Now for the hard part, the actual packing.
