Yesterday I got a cocktail stuck in my head that I really want to try to make this weekend, it’s called a Bailey’s Banana Colada or BBC for short. I first had this drink on my March Carnival Victory cruise when we were docked in St. Maarten. When we were relaxing on Orient Beach at the Sun Beach Clubber the woman sitting next to me had a drink that looked more like a sundae than an alcoholic beverage. I eyed it up for a while before asking her what is was, that is when I was introduced to the BBC.
At first I was hesitant to order one since its not really the kind of drink a “manly man” orders so I did the only thing one could do in that situation. I ordered a BBC for my girlfriend, a rum punch for myself and switched drinks with her after they were brought out. My plan worked brilliantly as no one was the wiser, especially since the table where we placed the drinks was between our loungers. As payment for playing the part of the “shill” I let my girlfriend have some of my BBC and we both agreed it was delicious. This weekend I plan on recreating this drink in the comfort of my home and I invite you all to give it a shot as well.
Banana Liqueur (I will probably substitute banana rum for an extra kick)
Bailey’s Irish Cream
Pina Colada Mix
Place the banana and the banana liqueur into your blender and blend until it has the consistency of a thick paste. Add the Bailey’s Irish Cream to taste; next add the pina colada mix and rum to taste. Blend well, add ice, and blend again until smooth. Serve in a pina-colada glass. If you want it to be really decadent, top with whipped cream.
