Happy Fourth of July From T.I. Cruiser

Statue of Liberty Fireworks Happy Fourth of July From T.I. Cruiser

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July. We pride ourselves on being a diverse country. With that diversity comes various cultural, religious and philosophical beliefs. Unfortunately, sometimes these differences in beliefs lead to fear, anger and even hatred.

July 4th, Independence Day is perhaps the only day where all Americans are on the same page. Today should be a day where we put aside those differences and celebrate the common thread that unites us, our freedom and love of that freedom. No matter what differences of opinion we may have, remember that the only reason you are allowed to have those differences is because you live in a free country.

We are an opinionated and very passionate nation.  The ability to passionately express those opinions is a gift given to us by our forefathers.  Although today is the birthday of our nation always remember we are the ones who received the gift.

Happy Birthday America

TIC Remembers Our Fallen Heroes

The hero dead cannot expire: The dead still play their part.

Memorial Day isn’t just about long weekends, beaches and barbeques, it also holds a special meaning for anyone who enjoys the freedoms that countless members of the United States Military died to provide.  While there is nothing wrong with enjoying the day to its fullest, make sure you do take time to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. At 3 p.m. today please stop whatever you are doing and take a moment to participate in the “National Moment of Remembrance”.

The National Moment of Remembrance program was something established to remind all of us Americans of the great sacrifices made by those who have fight or have fought to protect the values of our country.  It only takes a minute to show your appreciation, so no matter where you are please take a moment to pause at 3 p.m. in this symbolic act of unity to honor these heroes.

Now if you would like to take things a step further here are some other ways you can show your appreciation for those who died in conflicts and war:

  • Fly the U.S. flag
  • Visit a cemetery and place flags or flowers on the graves of soldiers, especially those whose final resting place appears neglected and forgotten. Many use Memorial Day as a reason to visit the graves of ancestors who didn’t serve in the military as well.
  • Visit one of the country’s many military memorials, from one of the national memorials in Washington D.C., to your small hometown veteran’s memorial.
  • Attend a parade or other Memorial Day observance near you. Check your local paper, or call the closest military base, American Legion, or Veterans of Foreign Wars post to find out what local observance’s are planned.
  • Say thank you to those who served and lived to tell their story by taking some flowers or cookies to a nearby veterans’ hospital.
  • Make a pledge to volunteer with or make a tax-deductible donation to a Veteran’s group

Back From The Carnival Victory 2011

I just got back from another successful cruise.  As always it was nice to get away from the real world for a while, I just wish I could do it more often.  Once again I cruised out of San Juan, Puerto Rico which continues to be one of my favorite cities anywhere in the world. I love the architecture of the buildings, the cobblestone streets the vibe of the people.

The ship I was on was the Carnival Victory.  I had done it once before so I won’t be posting a full blown review but if you have any specific questions about the  ship I would be happy to answer them.  So feel free to drop me an email by using my contact form located here.

While I won’t be posting a full cruise review I will be writing several entries on some of the activities I participated in and some of the places I visited along the way.  I’ll also throw in a couple reviews of different eateries I tried and maybe even a funny story or two.
