Hi all I just wanted to take a moment to ask you all to like theintelligentcruiser.com facebook fan page. I started the page a while ago but haven’t done a whole lot with it. Truthfully, I’m a pretty simple guy and still learning about all of this social media stuff. However, what I would really enjoy doing is getting more of a community vibe going and I think the use of a Facebook fan page would be the ideal way to kick things off.
Although I really enjoy writing blog posts sometimes thoughts pop into my head that aren’t long enough to fit into a blog post but are still very useful. Usually they end up rattling around in my head for a while before being filed away into my minds archives, which obviously is of no use to anyone but myself. I truly believe a Facebook fan page would be the ideal way venue for this sort of interaction.

Odd Cruise Picture: Superyacht Katara
A couple of years ago I was in Puerto Rico and was fortunate enough to see Paul Allen’s superyacht “the Octopus”. This was during the time where Johnny Depp was staying on board the ship while filming the movie “The Tourist”. I wrote a post about the Octopus here, since at the time I was pretty excited. After all, its not every day someone runs across the 400+ foot yacht. If memory serves me right Paul Allen’s Octopus is still the 11th largest yacht in the world.
Well, this year while on a cruise I saw yet another superyacht, the Katara. While it wasn’t quite as large as Paul Allen’s yacht it was nearly as large. In fact, I mentioned that Paul Allen’s Octopus was the 11th largest yacht in the world, this was the 12th largest in the world. Here is a picture I snapped from the cruise port in Barbados, the ship was docked about a half mile off shore.
The “Katara”, built by Lürssen, measures 124.4 metres or 408 feet long. Unlike Paul Allen’s Superyacht there isn’t much information available on this behemoth. I can’t even find information on who owns it. However if you there are any yacht lovers out there here is a video about the Katara.
