About a month ago I was on messenger having a conversation with someone trying to explain how to book a cruise and they said that I should write some sort of guide, well that’s exactly what I did.  Now I’ve never sat down and attempted to write anything liek this  so this task was indeed a daunting task but I figured since I get asked that question so much I might as well sit down and put pen to paper to see what I could come up with.  So, without further ado here is my first attempt at designing and writing an guide.

Those of you who already signed up have been sent the download link.  Anyone who wants to receive this guide just needs to sign up for the newsletter mailing list.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July. We pride ourselves on being a diverse country. With that diversity comes various cultural, religious and philosophical beliefs. Unfortunately, sometimes these differences in beliefs lead to fear, anger and even hatred.

July 4th, Independence Day is perhaps the only day where all Americans are on the same page. Today should be a day where we put aside those differences and celebrate the common thread that unites us, our freedom. No matter what differences of opinion we may have, remember that the only reason you are allowed to have those differences is because you live in a free country.

There is no doubt that Norwegian Cruise Lines newest ship is an incredible piece of machinery. With a staggering array of dining options, previously unheard of entertainment choices and groundbreaking new cabin categories the ship is simply amazing.  That much is indisputable.  However, aesthetically people tend to have conflicting opinions.  Where do you stand?

T.I. Cruiser’s Take On the Norwegian Epic

I am conflicted on how I feel about the look of this ship.  While the pictures I have seen of the inside are simply incredible, I am not 100 percent sold on the exterior of the ship. I just can’t shake the feeling that it looks like a model made from one of those giant Lego sets.  That being said I also find it completely fascinating.  I mean, it looks nothing like any other ship which is definitely a good thing.  Although the cruise lover in me wishes that Norwegian would have followed through on their plan to build multiple sister ships, there is a huge part of me that loves the fact that the Epic will remain unique.

One of my favorite sights is the port of Miami when it is jam packed with cruise ships; it just brings a smile to my face.  However, when the Epic finally makes it home there I have a feeling that its unique look will make my smile that much bigger.

The Kindle

I couldn’t make a list about Father’s Day gifts for cruisers without mention Amazon.com’s electronic reading device.  The Kindle is one of the hottest selling electronic items over the past year and is especially popular among cruisers.  It allows you to take a whole library worth of books along with you on vacation and new the ones even allows you to download new books almost anywhere in the world including on the ship.  While I don’t own one I personally know (literally) dozens of people who swear by the kindle.  Lately the kindle has been feeling the pressure from other e-readers like the Nook and the iPad (which doesn’t really count as a reader) but when it comes to just reading books nothing can beat it.

The Rosetta Stone Language Learning Software

Most of us at some point in our lives have taken a language learning class.  The problem is many of us remember almost none of what we learned, I fit into that category.  Recently I was given a copy of the Spanish Rosetta stone in hopes of unlocking that lost knowledge.  If you aren’t familiar with the Rosetta Stone it’s the award winning software that teaches you how to speak a language by using written words, pictures and spoken language.  In other words it immerses you that language to help you pick it up that much faster.  The Rosetta Stone is available to help you learn more than 30 languages.

Kodak Playsport (Zx3) Waterproof Camera

A friend of mine who owns an electronics store turned me onto this camera.  Waterproof up to 10 feet, 1080p HD and fits in the palm of your hand.  Kodak’s answer to the Flip Camera is perfect for a cruise vacation. I plan on picking one of these up for myself sometime before my next cruise.  The reviews are excellent and it is perfect for my needs.  I could spend a lot of time here hyping up the Kodak Playsport but instead will post this snorkeling video I found on YouTube.

Casio Solar Atomic G-shock watch

I am a bit of a watch junkie and highly recommend the G-Shock line if Dad is someone who can be described as adventurous or rugged, these things are durable.  The Casio G-shock is perfect for travel as it is highly accurate, solar powered and extremely durable.  If Dad is someone that likes hike or snorkel this is a great inexpensive watch.  G-Shocks are notoriously durable   and this one is waterproof up to 660 feet.  Because this watch syncs up with the atomic clock it is extremely accurate and the solar power means that if Dad ever misses the cruise ship it won’t be due to not knowing the time.

Portable Digital Luggage Scale

Nothing reminds you that you are no longer on vacation faster than having to re-organize your bags at the airport because they are over the weight restrictions.  Easy to use, highly accurate and really sturdy this is the perfect gift for dad if mom likes to over pack.  I picked up a portable luggage scale on my last trip and it saved me a lot of grief.

To celebrate Memorial Day many Americans get a three day weekend. During these three days we may visit the beach, throw a barbeque or use it as a chance to just relax and do nothing. While there is nothing wrong with any of that, make sure you do take time to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.
