Hurricane season is entering its peak and even as we speak Tropical Storm Emily is wreaking havoc all over the Eastern Caribbean. Plans are being ruined, cruise itineraries are being altered and things are just a mess. However, I’ve figured that I would take this opportunity to remind everyone that not all hurricanes are bad. In fact, when done probably hurricanes can be fantastic. Now obviously I’m not talking about the tropical storm variety of hurricane. So here is a recipe for a Hurricane that is sure to put a smile on your face.
Here is what you’ll need to make a Hurricane:
- 1 ounce White Rum
- 1 ounce Jamaican Dark Rum
- 1 ounce Bacardi 151 Rum
- 3 ounces of Orange Juice
- 3 ounces of Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
- ½ Ounce of Grenadine
- Crushed Ice
How to make a Hurricane:
Combine all of the above mentioned ingredients; shake well and pour into a crushed iced filled Hurricane Glass. I usually put two small straws in the drink since I hate the feeling of ice against my teeth but that’s up to you. You can also garnish with a fruit wedge if you want to be really fancy.
How to enjoy a Hurricane:
Best enjoyed out on a deck or by a pool. The idea is to have as many as it takes for you to feel as wobbly as you would on a cruise ship sailing through a hurricane. Enjoy and have a great weekend.
